“I cannot say enough good things about them, they were just unbelievably fabulous through every phase of my mother’s time there. They’re really loving, fabulous people, and I would not hesitate to recommend people look at that facility. Everybody from the cleaning people to the medical staff, the physical therapists, they were fantastic, and I’m in healthcare, so I’m a hard sell, so they were really good. Early on my mother had her own little apartment, which was really nice because she got to have her own furniture and even her cat. They also had a wing of nursing beds that she stayed in when she was in hospice, and that was fine. They had a whole range of activities both inside as well as outside, and they had transportation, too. For the price point it was also great. ”

My mom was a resident at Norwood Crossing in Chicago for almost 4 years. These were some of the best years of her life. She was constantly busy doing myriad of activities that they have there. She called herself ‘roving reporter’ as she wrote a column, usually a profile of someone who worked there, for the residents’ newsletter. She played bingo, gutzy dice, walked in their annual fashion show and was a volunteer as well. One of her favorite activities was the monthly ‘go out to lunch’ day.

This month it happened the day after she passed away. I spoke to the activities department and they said that when they did go out the next day, they left a chair open in honor of my mom. It was so sweet of them to do that for her. They are so wonderful there. I will always be grateful to them and cannot recommend them highly enough if you are ever in need of a place that not only treats their residents with dignity and love, but the residents have fun there as well.
As for their rehab, my mom’s fingers on her left hand were moving for the first time in a very long time after she had her stroke! She was so proud of that and that shows the dedication of their staff in helping their residents (not patients, residents) be the best that they can be. Thank you Norwood Crossing. Thank you for making the last years of my mom’s life some of the best ones.”

Thank you very much for your kind attention, care and concern for my mother, Ellen Lillian Heafey during her 13 or 14 years at Norwood Crossing. She was very happy there, and never voiced a complaint or concern during my visits. And, during my visits, I found the staff and employees to be genuine, kind, caring, efficient, pleasant and knowledgeable…During the past few years, I have visited friends or relations in various residential and retirement establishments, and none have compared with your facility.

Thank you for everything you have done for our Aunt Dolores Hjerstedt. From our first visit to see the Home through her stay, we were very pleased with all of your concern and care that you gave to her. You have a beautiful Home here, and we are forever grateful.

To say thank you is in no way adequate to express our feelings. When Dr. Dolan quit private practice and became Medical Director of the Home, Maxine (Johansen) came to work with him. When it was apparent that she could no longer live alone, Norwood Crossing was the only place she would consider. During her 12 years at the Home my mother received OUTSTANDING help and support from everyone on your staff. It was very comforting knowing that my mother was receiving the very best care in addition to love and understanding from everyone. Thanks much.
